Staying Hydrated

Staying Hydrated

The dog days of summer are upon us and now is the time to think about staying hydrated and avoiding heat exhaustion.  The body has a natural method to cool itself, it’s called sweat.  The problem with sweating is that the body looses water which is essential to everyday life.  Along with the water which is lost in sweat are electrolytes, and other important nutrients which the body needs to keep you functioning normally.  Heat related illnesses can be heat exhaustion, dehydration, and even heat stroke which can be fatal.  What can you do to protect yourself during the hot months?  Drink plenty of fluids, especially WATER!

Water is provided at jobsites for the sole purpose of keeping employees hydrated.  One other thing ICM does for hydration wellness is provide Sqwinchers.  Sqwinchers are designed to replace electrolytes which the body looses during work activity.  Sqwinchers should be used in moderation to receive the most benefit from the product.  Electrolytes are also replaced when you eat food, so it is important to keep the food intake as well.

One important thing to remember is too much of anything is not good for the body.  It is possible to drink too much water, so you should think about drinking water through out the day.  The same applies to Sqwinchers, drink them in moderation.
