Travel Status is a term used in workers
compensation. When an employee is away from the
job site they are insured during work related
business, work related errands, or attending a
work related event.
If an employee is out of town on assignment and
they are walking across a parking lot after
dinner, back to their hotel room they slip and
fracture an ankle. This is covered by workers
compensation.
If an employee is out of town on assignment, and
goes shopping or plays golf, or goes scuba
diving, etc. This is could be considered a
personal deviation and is not a workers
compensation issue.
It is best to report all injuries whether or not
you think it is work related.
Company Policy states all injuries needs to be
reported as soon as possible within 24 hours.
